Microbial Ecology - Fall 2007
BSCI 464 - MEES 698

This is a three-credit capstone course with lectures and discussions. The course focuses on the microbial diversity of extreme environments. The objectives are for the students:

      1. to develop an understanding of the morphological, ecological, biochemical and evolutionary diversity of the microbial world;
      2. to learn how prokaryotes have evolved to overcome stress and survive under extreme conditions;
      3. to learn the molecular biology and genomics methods by which this genetic diversity can be analyzed. The course is open to advance undergraduate and graduate students.

Class schedule:
Tues and Thurs   2:00PM to 3:15 PM in Plant Science Bldg, room 1115
