Location: University of Maryland, College of Chemical and Life Sciences Biological Sciences Program at Shady Grove

Description:
The College of Chemical and Life Sciences seeks a full time, non-tenure track faculty member to serve as Assistant Director of the undergraduate Biological Sciences Degree Program at the Universities of Maryland at Shady Grove in Rockville, Maryland.  Teaching areas at Shady Grove include molecular biology, cell biology, physiology, immunology, biochemistry, and scientific communication.  The Assistant Director will be expected to teach lectures and labs in at least two of these areas. Additional duties include but are not limited to: recruiting community college transfer students to the Shady Grove program, securing student internships at local private and public research and biotechnology institutions, assisting the Director in tracking and oversight of the program, student advising, and activities that connect the Shady Grove program to the parent program at College Park. 

Qualifications:
The qualified candidate will hold a Ph.D. in an area of biology related to the Shady Grove teaching curriculum, have published research in peer reviewed journals, have a history of excellence in teaching in a University setting, and have strong communication, computer, and interpersonal skills.  Salary is commensurate with experience and education. The appointment is for 9 months per calendar year.
