12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

The College of Chemical and Life Sciences is holding a workshop for all faculty on publicizing your research and working with the media. This program is aimed at all faculty interested in opportunities to discuss their research with the media.

Location:  3101 Bioscience Research Building

In this 1.5 hour session, we will discuss:

  • Why and when you should consider publicizing your research?
  • How to work with college and university communications staffs to send out a news release.
  • Who is/are the target audience(s) for your news?
  • How do you strike the right tone for a news release?
  • Working under embargo - when can and should you communicate with university communications staff and outside news media about forthcoming research publications?
  • How do the college and university select priorities for news?  What are they? How does your research fit into these?
  • What other ways can I publicize my work outside of issuing a news release?
The program will be led by Kelly Blake, director of communications for the College of Chemical and Life Sciences, and will include presentations by University Communications staff, including Millree Williams, the executive director for public affairs strategy, and Lee Tune, the associate director.

Please RSVP to Kelly Blake by Friday, November 13 if you plan to attend.
