Program Information:
I. H1N1 (Swine Flu) Virus Symposium: With the growing concern about the spread of H1N1 virus, it is has become imperitive to initiate discussion and awerness about the pandemic. The H1N1 Virus Symposium is one such initiative where panelists from the University of Maryland, School of Public Health and the College of Chemical and Life Sciences will present important information about the virus and the pandemic. The panel discussion will be divided into four sections, which are as follows:
1. Public Health Aspects of H1N1 - Presented by Jennifer Todd, Dr. PH., University of Maryland, School of Public Health
2. Biology of the Virus - Presented by David Rollins, Ph.D., University of Maryland, College of Chemical and Life Sciences
3. History of Influenza Pandemics - Presented by John Parascandola, Ph.D., Published Author, Educator and Historian of US Public Health Services and the National Library of Medicine.
4. Swine Flu Vaccine Development - Presented by Dr. Seth Toback from MedImmune Corp.

II. Poster Presentations: Students from the Univeristy of Maryland's Biological Sciences program at the Univerisites at Shady Grove will present and explain thier recently completed research projects summarized on prosters. Students worked on these projects as part of their academic coursework as well as internships at private and government research institutes.
